A Barbican wedding is my idea of heaven. It has long been one of my favourite spots in London, one I have photographed many times, so when Sarah got in contact about their wedding in the Barbican Conservatory, I was probably a little over excited.
The Barbican is the couples favourite place and the Conservatory provides a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. Surrounded by the tropical plants and the brutal architecture, it’s a little oasis of calm in the middle of the city. Sarah and Stuart were keen to focus on a fun day and wanted to spend as much time with their family and friends so we decided to do a first look. This gave the couple an opportunity to spend some time with each other before all the celebrations and also shed a lot of the nerves that usually occur the morning of the wedding. I have to say their first look was pretty special. I cried as they turned to face each other and embraced.
I loved everything about this wedding. From Sarah’s amazing shoes to here beautiful bouquet, to the Barbican biscuits and Wild Card beer, the beautiful back drop and the hand selected playlist for the evening, their day was full of beautiful little details that were special to the couple. From the moment their first dance started, the dancefloor was full. Everyone was up, dancing and letting their hair down. To me this is what weddings are about, a day full of very personal touches, two families coming together and one hell of a party.
I may be biased but I think the Barbican is one of my favourite wedding venues. If anyone fancies getting married there, give me a shout, I would love to photograph another wedding there.
