The Roost is one of my favourite venues. Not only has every wedding I’ve ever shot there been a lot of fun, it also has the most amazing pockets of light. It makes photographing my couples so much fun.

Saturday was such a fun day.  Jen and Richard have the most amazing family and friends and it was great to see everyone come together for their wedding. One of the great things about shooting weddings is the amazing people I get to meet and chat to on the day itself. I love spotting the characters in the crowd and documenting the relationships as they unfold during the day. It provides such a contrast to the quiet portrait session with each couple and Saturday’s shoot was no different.  Sneaking off to get some time alone,  taking some time to let all the excitement of the day sink in, I found a quiet corner and some beautiful light and just let Jen and Richard have some time to themselves. They talked about their mornings apart and I just let them chat away, let them talk like it was any other day.

After every wedding, I go home and back up my cards and looks through the images from the day picking out a few favourites. These four frames jumped out at me while I was looking through the photos and I couldn’t wait to share them with Jen & Richard.

It’s no secret, I have a love affair with black and white.
