This is it, don’t get scared now!

So yesterday was one of those days when something I’ve dreamed of and something I’ve been working hard on took one step closer to becoming very real. Months of preparations, months of nervousness and self doubt, lots of chats about whether I should be doing it and if anyone would come along have lead to the announcement of my FIRST exhibition.

The amazing people behind Hawkhurst Vault have invited me to be their artist in residence and yesterday the event went live on facebook.  After the event went live and invites were sent to people, I sat nervous, waiting to see if anyone would click to attend and by the time I went to bed last night I was blown away by the response.  It is always difficult to put yourself and your work out there for the world to see and while I do it every week with my wedding photography, it feels completely different when it is work that sits a lot closer to your heart.  I am nervous and excited and full of apprehension. I am still scared no one will turn up for the opening night.

Once the exhibition is up and running I am hoping to do a couple of blog posts about the images and what they mean to me, as well as talk about the process of photographing the house I grew up in. I think I need a little bit more time to process it all and get my words in order.
